• Add or update a delivery address

    Please Note: If you currently have an order in progress, and you know the delivery address is incorrect, please call Community Support immediately!

    If you need to add or update a delivery address any other time, you may follow the steps below.

    In the app:

    1. Tap the Account icon
    2. Tap Your account settings
    3. Tap Addresses
    • To add an address, tap Add address, enter the information, including any useful delivery instructions, and tap Save
    • To edit an address, click the address from the list.
    • To remove an address, slide left on the screen over the address listing until you see the red Delete button. Tap Delete.

    On a computer:

    1. Log in and click Account
    2. In the dropdown menu, click Your Account
    3. In the left-hand menu, click Addresses
    • To add an address, click +Add new delivery address, enter the information, including any useful delivery instructions, and click Save Address
    • To edit or remove an address, click the address from the list. To edit, update the information and click Save Changes. To remove, click Delete address.
  • Update your delivery notification preferences

    Please Note: turning off notifications for order updates means you will not receive alerts about the status of your order, including replacements and refunds.

    In your account, you can choose how you receive notifications from us about your order. You can even turn notification off completely. To manage your notification preferences:

    In the app:

    1. Tap the Account icon
    2. Tap Your account settings
    3. Tap Notifications
    4. Toggle notifications on and off as desired:
      • Send a push notification: turns on or off alerts sent from the app to your phone’s notification display
      • Send an SMS message: turns on or off alerts sent via SMS (text) message to the phone number in your account
      • Call before checkout: alerts the shopper working on your order to call the phone number in your account to review changes to your order before checkout 

    On a computer:

    1. Log in and click Account
    2. In the dropdown menu, click Your Account
    3. In the left-hand menu, click Notifications
    4. Under When there is an update to your order… toggle notifications on and off as desired:
      • Send a push notification: turns on or off alerts sent from the app to your phone’s notification display
      • Send an SMS message: turns on or off alerts sent via SMS (text) message to the phone number in your account
      • Call before checkout: alerts the shopper working on your order to call the phone number in your account to review changes to your order before checkout 
  • Update your email notification preferences

    All email subscription settings can be adjusted, with the exception of emailed order confirmations.

    In the app:

    1. Tap the account icon at the top left (it looks like a face in a circle)
    2. Tap Your Account settings
    3. Tap Notifications
    4. Toggle the marketing options to turn notifications on and off

    On a computer:

    1. Log in and click Account
    2. In the dropdown menu, click Your Account
    3. In the left-hand menu, click Notifications
    4. Under Email click Manage email preferences
    5. On the email preferences page, check or uncheck the box to the left of each email type to subscribe to and unsubscribe from Instacart emails. Your choice will be automatically saved in your account.

     

    I turned on my notifications, and I’m still not receiving Instacart emails.
    If you’re not receiving emails from Instacart, please check your email account’s “Spam” or “Junk” folders to ensure the message was not filtered or flagged incorrectly.

  • Update your account information

    Please Note: If you using Facebook or Google sign-in, your profile information such as your picture, email address, and password cannot be updated in your instacart Account Settings. Please update your account information in your Facebook or Google account.

     

    Access your account information

    In the app:

    1. Tap the Account icon
    2. Tap your account settings

    On a computer:

    1. Click Account
    2. In the drop down menu, click Your Account
    3. In the left-hand menu, click Account

     

    Update your name and phone number

    We currently support domestic phone numbers only

    In the app:

    1. Tap Your name, email, and phone
    2. Tap the information you’d like to change
    3. Update the information
    4. Tap Save in the upper right corner

    On a computer:

    1. Click Account > Your Account
    2. In the left-hand menu, click Account
    3. Under Personal Information, click Change next to the item
    4. Update the information and click Save Account Information

     

    Update your account email or password

    In the app:

    1. Tap Your name, email, and phone
    2. Tap the information you’d like to change
      1. To change your password, tap Change password
    3. Update the information
    4. Tap Save in the upper right corner

    On a computer:

    1. Click Account > Your Account
    2. In the left-hand menu, click Account
    3. Under Account Information, click Change next to the item
    4. Update the information
    5. Enter your current password to verify changes
    6. Click Save Account Information

     

  • Add a retailer membership or loyalty card

    Some retailers on our platform offer membership or loyalty card integration, so you can continue to receive select benefits while using Instacart. To see all participating retailers in your area, and add a card to your Instacart account:

    In the app:

    1. Tap the Account icon
    2. Tap Your account settings
    3. Tap Loyalty Cards
    4. A list of participating retailers will be displayed. Locate your retailer and tap the list item or Add loyalty card.
    5. Enter the retailer loyalty program or membership number and click Add

    On a computer:

    1. Log in and click Account
    2. In the dropdown menu, click Your Account
    3. In the left-hand menu, click Loyalty Cards
    4. A list of participating retailers will be displayed. Locate your retailer and click Add Loyalty Card (this works for memberships, too).
    5. Enter the retailer loyalty program or membership number and click Add

     

    Can I take advantage of my retailer’s club prices?
    We only offer prices according to our pricing policy and therefore may not be able to offer any sale or promotional prices associated with loyalty card usage. For information about Instacart’s own exclusive promotional offers, follow this link.

    How do I confirm my loyalty card was applied to my order?
    At this time, we’re unable to confirm the application of your card information on our end. You are welcome to contact the participating retailer directly with your Instacart receipt.

  • Login and account access issues

    How do I reset my password?

    To reset your password, please find Forgot your password? on the login page and click Reset it. Enter your email address - we'll send you a reset email confirmation which will direct you to change your password within a few minutes.

    If you do not see the password reset email, please check your junk/spam folder.

    If you still can’t reset your password, please contact us as we're happy to investigate.

    Account suspension

    This suspension of an account is a security measure to prevent fraud and keep customer account information secure.

    If your account seems to be suspended, it probably requires additional verification. It may be suspended temporarily or permanently. As a result, you'll be unable to place an order.

  • How do I cancel my Instacart Express membership?

    If you find that Instacart Express isn't the right fit for your needs, you can cancel your membership renewal any time.*

    In the app:

    1. In the upper left corner of your screen, tap the profile icon, and a drop-down menu will appear
    2. Click My Account > Express
    3. Click Manage Membership
    4. Then tap End Membership.
    5. If you like, you will have the option to leave us feedback regarding the reason for the cancellation.

    On a computer:

    1. Log into instacart.com
    2. Click Account > Instacart Express
    3. Next to Membership Plan, click End Membership
      1. If you think you might change your mind, you can Set a Reminder for yourself about the upcoming membership renewal instead.
      2. If you’re certain you’d like to stop renewal, click Continue to Cancel
      3. Please note that you must have a payment method saved under Credit Card prior to being able to cancel your membership
    4. Confirm your cancellation by clicking End, which will cancel your membership at the end of the indicated date.

    You’ll be taken back to the Express page, where you can view your membership end date. Your Express membership will remain active until this date. You will see that your membership is not set for auto-renewal if you see the ability to Renew Membership.

    If you change your mind before the cancellation date, just return to the Express page and click Renew Membership to turn renewal back on.

    Cancelling your membership renewal will not cancel your active membership for the current period, or issue a refund for a membership renewal charge.

    *For all members, you may cancel your Instacart Express membership within the first 15 calendar days of your paid Instacart Express membership and receive a refund of the Instacart Express membership fee you paid, but only if you have not placed any orders using your Instacart Express membership. If you cancel at any other time, you will not receive a refund, but you can continue to enjoy the Free Deliveries through the end of your billing period.

  • What personal information about me is shared with retailers?

    Certain retailers may want to receive personal information about you, such as your name, email address, home address, current and historical order details, and phone number. When you place an order, we will ask you whether you want to opt in to having that information shared with a specific retailer and we will tell you what information will be shared if you do choose to opt in. You can click Allow or Don’t Allow sharing while placing your order.

    If you do opt in to this sharing, the retailer will receive current and historical information about your orders on Instacart at that retailer (including which items you purchased and what prices you paid) in association with your name and other personal information. Note that information that you choose to share with retailers will be controlled by the specific retailer and subject to their privacy policy.

    Not all retailers support the ability to opt into sharing additional information at this time.

    Having an Instacart account is absolutely free! There is no charge for keeping an account open with us. We’ll be adding new stores, features, and exclusive deals as we continue to grow.
